Timeline Assignment summary 

​​Prior to the trip both Level I & Level II participants should read their selected portions of the text, while reading they should identify the-five ten most significant events that occurred in their readings.  Participants will complete the document entitled “The Story of Us:  A Timeline of American History”, shared digitally with all members of the seminar , via google docs. Readings and timeline will be evaluated, and therefore, must be completed by June 6th, 2017
  1. Identify & post in the shared google spreadsheet, the year (column A), month (column B) day (column C) time (column D) when the event began.   Column A is required, columns B-D are optional.  All dates should be posted with numbers only.
  2. Identify & post the ending year not required (Columns E-H) for each event.
  3. Create, write a title for each event. (column J Headline in the template), required.
  4. Write and post 1-3 paragraph synopsis of each event (column K, text).  The synopsis should include the following:  a. what happened, b. who was involved, c. where it happened, d. why it happened.  Summaries should make it clear why this event was significant.  When appropriate include relevant quotes.
  5. Select and post the url of a significant photos, and/or video to support the content, in column L, media.
  6. Each participant should write their name in column M, creator to ensure they receive credit for their summary
  7. Identify and post the category, or group in column Q, that best defines the event.
  8. It is strongly recommended that  participants make a copy of the original document, post all their individual summaries on their individual copy, then copy and paste all posts to the shared copy when completed.  Please note it is not necessary to put posts in chronological order, JS Timeline will place them in chronological order once published and posted.
