I am having a blast! This weebly thing is so easy to use and the possibilities are seeming endless. I have at least a hundred ideas, I only hope that I can find the time to get everything on my site that I want. I am thinking that I will use this site more for the older art classes that I teach to begin with, and perhaps add the younger grades later.
My teaching situation is that I am a Speciality Art Teacher. I have 6 classes each day for 30 each, and they change every 7 weeks. I am trying to set up 6 different classes X 5 because we rotate 5 times during the year. I may have to be patient and organize this a bit at a time.
I want to make this available to parents so they are better informed about my class and what their child is learning. I also am trying to get better at technology.
I am interested in learning how to upload videos to my website that I can use to show my students and parents procedures in the classroom. I also want to learn more about the Alpine Foundation.
I loved learning about how to add the Alpine School District Foundation. Hopefully I will get some donations! I am also excited to learn about how to post video tutorials that I want to make for parents to learn how to do reading and writing conferences with their children.
I took the introductory course and I learned the basics. I wanted more time to work on my website and I want to expand my knowledge. I want to learn how to add a survey and a blog. I bought the prime account and I want to learn to add a Favicon for ease of movement around the website. I also want to finalize the organization of my site so the site looks professional and visitors have ease of access.
4th grade. Saratoga Shores. I'm excited to develop my Weebly. I use it for spelling and vocabulary homework currently, but I see that there are many options to increase student participation with surveys, blogs and videos.
I envision using this technology to increase participation and student learning by creating a website that is more eye appealing than the one I currently have. I want to drive students to my website where they can access calendars, links to videos and articles I want them to watch or read. I would also like to link my assignments so that it's user friendly so students have no problem knowing what is due and what is happening in the classroom when they are absent. I believe that will increase student learning and their interest in US History.
I love how easy it is to design a website. I am excited to develop my curriculum as website accessible. I like how quickly parents can see student assignments. My mind is buzzing with ideas to add. Thanks for your excitement and teaching style.
I teach 1st grade at Saratoga Shores Elementary. I'm hoping to create a website that will be a useful resource for the parents of my 1st graders. Weekly newsletters, homework resources, and links to fun educational websites are a few of the things I'm planning to include on the website.
I already have a website through Google, but it's pretty limited. I'm hoping this will offer more interactivity and deeper content for my students.
I teach English 11 Honors and Film as Literature at Timpanogos High School.
Since I currently do not have a class of my own, I am using this class as an opportunity to launch a website for a new challenge group I am a part of for Beach Body. I can see endless possibilities for applying everything in this class, like posting assignments, texting reminders, and having a website students and parents can go to and reference! I love everything I'm learning!
Okee dokee. I think this will be very useful because I can have a place where parents can find all the stuff I want them to have! They will have a place to check and get answers. I can post all my documents about birthdays, newsletters, math flashcards and gameboards and etc., blank writing paper, written response papers etc. etc.
I forgot to say that I teach first grade at Saratoga Shores.
I teach first grade at Saratoga Shores.
Right now my focus for this website is to have a place for parents to access resources for homework. Our first grade team has a website for resources that are common to all of us. I want a website for things that are specific to my class. I am anticipating that I will use it for more than this after learning more.
I am a teacher librarian at Lehi Junior High
We recently completed a survey of students who have access to handheld devices that can be used for technology in the classroom and the result was in the ninety percentile. The students are using technology to learn outside of classrooms and as educators I think that we are responsible to bring technology into the public classrooms. I want to use technology, teach teachers to use technology, and teach students to use technology within our classrooms to enhance student learning.
I am a teacher's aide at Geneva Elementary. I am working on re-certifying to teach my own class, hopefully this fall. I can see the things I learn here being super useful in a class where parents want to see what is happening and students can go to check their behavior and see a summary of the class schedule. I work at a school where not many children have internet access at home. I know this is an exception, but it makes a challenge for using technology.
I think this is amazing! I will use this on a daily basis for student learning and improvement.
I am so excited about what we have learned today! The things I am most excited about are that it caters to the ways parents want to communicate and the ways students research. I feel that home and school will be so much more interactive.
I also feel I can now communicate with parents and make information available to them with less effort on my part. The websites have been very helpful, as well as the web design. I am very motivated to use this next year!
I teach sixth grade A.L.L. at Sego Lily Elementary. I am excited to be updating my school website. I've had it for three years, but it only has had my calendar on it. I'm hoping it will become a resource for students and parents, as well as a place to go for parents who are thinking about putting their student in A.L.L.
I also use an online math program, so parents and students will be able to find the website and help they are looking for.
Thanks for all the information!
I'm going to use this to keep my students and parents informed to what is going on in PE all during the year. Students will be able to review lessons taught in class so they can practice at home. Also it will be a great source of information for health and life long learning. Parents will be able to read about the benefits of PE in school and also get to know me better.
I am taking this course to create my first website. I have not used a website for my classroom as of yet. I am excited about how it will increase student participation and my ability to keep parents informed of what their student is doing in class. I'm also anticipating that it will shift some of the responsibility for class work from teacher to student, as students will now have access online to all that they have missed and are responsible for. I have always posted a scope and sequence on the wall of the classroom so students know what is coming up, but this way they can have access to it outside of class so they can be aware of what is coming up. Creating this website will also allow me to get all my files well organized on my computer for both my use and student use.
How I intend to use Weebly.com (not in order of importance):
1) Share info about myself to my students & parents - good PR
2) Share Calendar to communicate assignments, project, field trips, etc.
3) Provide downloadable forms and assignments
4) Provide overview of curriculum
5) Provide links to valuable websites for kids to use at home
6) Provide fast finishers for kids to use when they finish early
7) Help parents keep track of student grades and missing assignments
Yeah, to our Cedar Ridge 5th Grade team. It will be a great year.
I am sooo excited to use Weebly in my teaching. As a new Music Specialist, one of my most challenging tasks is public relations with the parents of my @900 students. Because I am new to my school, the parents do not know my background. In addition, most parents do not visit specialty teachers at back to school night. They are, however, willing to complain and offer suggestions of curriculum content. Using Weebly and links to the Utah State and other valuable websites, I can better represent myself to the public. Parents want to know that their children are not wasting their time at school, and with a strong, interactive website, I can be proactive in informing them of what we are doing.
In public education, professionalism and reputation really matter. An outward facing website will go a long ways to strengthen public opinion and enhance my reputation. I am so excited to try it as a general information link, and when I am a regular teacher again will certainly use this in teaching.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful resource!
Carolyn, thanks for joining the 5th grade teachers in taking this class. Go Cedar Ridge.
I am so excited to use this new technology! My hope is that I can use my weebly website as an innovative way to motivate my students to stay informed, learn new content, and supplement their learning. This will also help me keep parents informed and up-to-date on assignments and due dates. For students who may be absent, I plan on linking pdf files for homework assignments and handouts, as well as websites and video clips to enhance their learning while they are absent. I also will use the Remind 101 as a tool for my students and parents. This is a great way to send off a quick text to remind them of homework, projects, or other reminders. My wish is that these tools will enable my students to stay caught up on their work and take personal responsibility for their learning. I can't wait to use it!!
Yeah, Cedar Ridge 5th Grade team.
I envision this weebly instruction to open many doors for students, parents, and as a teacher. I see my 8th grade A.L.L. students loving the remind101 since they are so conscientious with following assignments or having a reminder. I will enjoy having students be able to have access to videos, instructions and whole units which is not capable on skyward when posting assignments. I am so excited to have a professional looking website started and all the possibilities that this program enables for the classroom and other uses.
This will be so invaluable for our online school model since the majority of our communication with parents and students is via the computer. To have all of our parent information, curriculum resources and online class recordings all in one place and easily accessible will be wonderful and so time saving for both teachers and parents. With Remind 101 we can remind students and parents an hour before their online classes so they don't forget. To have all of the forms and information for parents and students, that is often so overwhelming when sent in emails, can now be available anytime so when they need the information they can locate it easily. We, as teachers, can feel comfortable that all the important information will be seen. So useful and pertinent to our school.
As a grade level team, we want to use this to help complete our summer collaboration grant by organizing our standards and supplementary materials for the students on our pages. By doing it as a team, we will put forth a more organized front for our parent community. It will also be very beneficial for me so that I can create things once and then post or hide them and have them all ready for the next year or so without having to redo, or reinvent the wheel every year.
I'm also going to use this to brush up and refine my personal Prof. Dev. web sites to make the sites more effective and useful. (And better, more professional looking sites.)
